About · The house

Change begins with a shift in mindset.

Torpedo Publishing is an independent house for journals, intelligence and books. It publishes Torpedo Journal, the Mind Club briefs and their homes, and the Catapult books.

01 · The name

Torpedo comes from the pool.

A swimmer pushes off the wall, holds a tight line under the water and cuts through it with as little drag as possible. The speed from that push carries into the first stroke, right as they break the surface.

That’s the idea behind the house. Start with real force, waste as little as you can, and carry the momentum into whatever comes next.

Our chevron comes from the same moment. Its two strokes curve and taper like the ripples a swimmer leaves on the surface, which is why the first brand book called it the Making Waves mark. And like the swimmer, it always points the way the thing moves.

02 · Where it began

Torpedo started in 2020 as a philosophy, built on the Corporate Athlete: the habits that carry an athlete through a race, applied to work and life. Mental aptitude. Endurance training. Accountability. Focused drive.

Catapult set that method down as a book. The house grew from there: a journal of physical culture and the human edge, then Mind Club, four intelligence briefs that each have a home of their own.

03 · What we’re for

Helping the next generation do more and do better.

We publish for people who are driven from within and ready to act on it: leaders, founders, scientists and builders who want to understand what’s changing and decide what to do about it.

04 · What we believe

Hard work pays off. No one gets there alone.

We believe in resilience: doing the work, and pushing through the hard stretches that every real effort has. We also stay open. The people who paved the way learned things we haven’t yet, and we learn from them gladly, so we can see further and keep moving.

Bold vision

We take on the big questions in science, technology, the world and how to live in it.

Radical transparency

Our briefs name their sources and grade their calls in public.

Innovation

New formats when the old ones don’t fit: briefs, live dashboards, a journal built around one theme.

Unrelenting dedication

Every weekday, every week, every issue.

05 · Write to the house

Bring us your idea.

We love hearing new ideas. A book, a series, a brief, a partnership: if it helps people think clearly and act with intent, we want to see it.

Tell us what you’re making and where you want it to go. When you’re ready to get started, so are we, and we’ll work with you to bring it to life.
